Introducing InDownloader

Saving a Reel you want to keep should take seconds, not a detour through pop-up sites and fake download buttons. So we built InDownloader: paste a public Instagram link, and get the original file back at the best quality the post exposes.

Why we made it

We kept running into the same problems on every other tool:

• Watermarks. Files came back stamped with someone else’s logo.
• Re-encoding. A 1080p Reel would arrive as a soft, blocky 480p copy.
• Ad mazes. Three fake “Download” buttons before the real one.
• Carousels ignored. Multi-slide posts returned only the first image.

None of that is necessary. Instagram already serves the media publicly. A good tool should just hand it to you untouched.

What it does

Paste a link and InDownloader figures out what kind of post it is:

• Reels and feed videos — every quality Instagram exposes, sorted best-first
• Photos — the original file, not a resized thumbnail
• Carousels — every slide listed separately, photos and videos side by side
• Stories — from public accounts, while they’re still inside the 24-hour window
• Profile pictures — the full-size version, not the cropped avatar

Each result gets its own download row, labelled with resolution and file type so you know exactly what you’re getting before you tap.

How it works

The site itself is a static Astro build with almost no JavaScript. When you submit a link, our API reads the post’s public metadata, pulls out the direct media URLs, and streams the file back through a proxy so your browser’s download behaves properly.

Two things worth calling out:

No account is ever used. We don’t log in, we don’t hold credentials, and we don’t touch anything that isn’t already publicly visible.

Nothing is stored. The link you paste is used for that one request and then discarded. There’s no history, no queue, and no copy of your file on our side.

What it deliberately can’t do

We’d rather be clear than oversell:

• Private and restricted accounts are off-limits.
• Close-friends Stories are never public, so they can’t be fetched.
• Expired Stories are gone — there’s nothing left to reach.
• Deleted and archived posts return nothing.

If a tool claims otherwise, be skeptical about what it’s actually doing with your data.

Use it responsibly

Downloading a clean file isn’t the same as having a license to repost it. Credit creators, ask permission before re-sharing, and stick to Instagram’s Terms of Use.
